The Performance minor provides students with opportunities to develop skills in music performance. Each of the four required Performance courses will support students in developing an increasing proficiency in both solo and ensemble music performance. Styles covered include: classical, jazz, contemporary, and folk/world music. Learning and teaching activities will include lectures, small group teaching, one-to-one teaching, masterclasses, and ensemble work. All students wishing to enrol in these courses must successfully complete an audition.

Learning Outcomes

  1. demonstrate some of the broader fundamental technical and cognitive skills involved in music performance;
  2. work independently and collaboratively to develop a foundational understanding of the craft of musical performance and its presentation to an audience; and
  3. critically analyse material and aesthetical elements of music, demonstrating an ability to provide feedback and pose research questions in both written and verbal formats.
