The Visual Arts Practice minor offers students the opportunity to undertake practice-based study in the ANU School of Art and Design. Students can study courses across a range of studio disciplines and contexts. The 1000-level courses provide students with fundamental skills and competencies in the context of contemporary art. This forms the basis for 2000-level studio practice and contextual courses where students advance their studio skills and develop critical thinking through a range of practice-based methodologies. Students will become part of the School of Art and Design's vibrant and cohesive artistic community and enjoy proximity to major collecting institutions such as the National Gallery of Australia. Art History and Curatorial Studies provide a strong complement to this minor, enabling future curators and art historians hands on knowledge of processes and materials.

School of Art and Design studio courses have a limited enrolment capacity. Students are advised to enrol as early as possible to maximise the opportunity of securing a place.
