Program Requirements

The Master of International Management requires the completion of 96 units, which must consist of:

24 units from completion of the Management Core specialisation

24 units from completion of the Management Essentials specialisation

 

24 units from completion of the International Business specialisation

Admission Requirements

Either:

A Bachelor degree or international equivalent with a credit average (GPA 5.0/7.0).

Or:

An ANU Graduate certificate in management with a credit average (GPA 5.0/7.0).

All applicants must meet the University's English Language Admission Requirements for Students

A maximum of 48 units of credit will be available based on the following conditions:

• Applicants with at least 10 years’ work experience (including 5 years documented management experience) may be eligible for 24 units of credit.

• Applicants with a Bachelor Degree or international equivalent in a cognate discipline may be eligible for 24 units of credit (AQF level 7).

• Applicants with an Honours degree or postgraduate qualification in a cognate discipline may be eligible for 48 units of credit (AQF level 8/9).

The Master of International Management program equips graduates and professionals from any discipline to become evidence-based decision makers, innovative problem solvers, responsible social citizens, and future leaders. Graduates of the Master of International Management acquire advanced knowledge and skills for professional or highly skilled managerial work in the global economy. The knowledge acquired from completion of this degree is both theoretical and applied in the international business and management disciplines. Graduates will have an understanding of recent developments in these disciplines and the associated professional practice. In particular graduates will understand the evidence base for international managerial practice: the relationship between theory and applied knowledge and the research from which it emerges.

Single degree

The completion of the Master of International Management requires the completion of 96 units:

  • 48 units of compulsory courses;
  • 6 units from completion of courses from the following list:

    BUSI7020 The European Business System

    BUSI7055 Asian Business Systems

  • 6 units from completion of courses from the following list:

    MGMT7006 Effective Business Decision Making

    MGMT7161 Entrepreneurship and New Venture Planning

AND either:

  • 12 units of elective courses offered by ANU and

    24 units from completion of one of the following specialisations:

    Innovation and Entrepreneurship

    Leadership

    Marketing

    Project Management

OR
  • 36 units of elective courses offered by ANU



Enrolment Status

It is possible to enrol in fewer than 24 units per semester but it will take you longer to finish your program and get your degree. If you are an international student you must always be enrolled full-time in 24 units each semester.

Remember you will need to enrol in courses for both First Semester and Second Semester.  You will be able to change your enrolment in courses up until the end of Week 2 of each semester without penalty.

Electives

The Program allows students to take six electives, in a wide range of fields, including languages, internships, and other courses from many Schools across the ANU campus.  Students also have the option of undertaking specialisations in Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Leadership, Marketing and Project Management.
