This course provides the student with the principles of qualitative research methods for anthropological fieldwork as well as for applied interdisciplinary health research. A core component of this subject is training in analytic thinking and in the development of a research proposal. Students will acquire knowledge in qualitative methods, such as participant observation, taking field notes, field-diary writing, in-depth interviews and focus groups. Students will be expected to participate in exercises designed to enhance skills and techniques throughout the course.

- Design and conduct qualitative research in an interdisciplinary research team;
- Evaluate the relationship between research design and research methods;

Attendance and participation in seminars: 5%(off campus student to make forum posts in lieu of seminar participation)
