A maximum of 60 units may come from completion of 1000-level courses

Students must achieve a minimum 75% weighted average mark in the first 120 units of courses attempted in order to remain enrolled in the Bachelor of Finance, Economics and Statistics (Honours).

ECON3100 Economics 3 (H) must be completed within the first 120 units of courses attempted.

Students who do not achieve a minimum of 75% weighted average mark or do not complete ECON3100 Economics 3 (H) within the first 120 units of courses attempted will be transferred to the Bachelor of Economics.

Admission Requirements

Admission to all programs is on a competitive basis. Admission to undergraduate degrees is based on meeting the ATAR requirement or an equivalent rank derived from the following qualifications:

• An Australian year 12 qualification or international equivalent; OR
• A completed Associate Diploma, Associate Degree, AQF Diploma, Diploma, AQF Advanced Diploma, Graduate Certificate or international equivalent; OR
• At least one standard full-time year (1.0 FTE) in a single program of degree level study at an Australian higher education institution or international equivalent; OR
• An approved tertiary preparation course unless subsequent study is undertaken.

Prerequisites

ACT:  Specialist Mathematics (Major/Minor) (160+)/Specialist Methods(Major/Minor) (160+), NSW: Mathematics Extension 1 (Band E3) or equivelant. More information about interstate subject equivalencies can be found here.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion, students will have the skills and knowledge to:

1. Determine which financial models should be utilised to analyse and price financial assets.
2. Demonstrate their understanding of the economic foundations of financial assets as claims on resources in various market and corporate settings to design financial instruments and strategies.
3. Adapt time series statistics and financial econometrics to evaluate financial economic models.
4. Demonstrate the skills necessary to critically engage with and evaluate financial economic problems.
5. Evaluate key research questions as demonstrated through a process of planning, developing and executing a body of research work.
