This is a project-oriented course focussed on hollow construction techniques enabling students to produce both functional (tableware) and expressive forms (jewellery and small sculptural objects) from sheet metal. The course will extend students' technical, material and conceptual skills. The use of hand skills together with engineering equipment, soldering, welding, chemical processing and digital technologies may be further explored and developed at this level. In addition, studio theory enables students to examine the historical and contemporary contexts of jewellery and small object making. Workplace health and safety (WHS) instruction is an integral part of this course.

Workload
130 hours of total student learning time made up from:a) 48 hours of contact over 12 weeks: lectures, tutorials, critiques and supervised studio practice; and
