Upon successful completion of this course, students will have the knowledge and skills to:- Identify the major issues, events, concepts and ideologies in Turkish politics.
- Understand and develop evidence based arguments on the impact of secularisation, modernisation, Westernisation and Islam on Turkish identity and the influence of political and military institutions on politics and culture in modern Turkey.
- Apply both the concepts of political science such as nationalism, modernisation, political Islam, legitimacy, and sovereignty and also theories of international relations to the Turkish case.
- Critically analyse Turkish foreign policy towards the Middle East, Europe, Central and East Asia, United States and also international organisations.
