Graduates with a specialisation in Entrepreneurship & Innovation will learn to combine foundational knowledge of core theory and best practices in these fields, which will form the basis for independent lifelong learning.
Graduate Knowledge
Graduates with a specialisation in Entrepreneurship & Innovation will have a coherent body of knowledge of the fundamental principles of Entrepreneurship & Innovation, and an understanding of conceptual frameworks as a basis for future discovery in education and practice.
Graduate Skills
Graduates with a specialisation in Entrepreneurship & Innovation will have:
- Cognitive skills to exercise theoretical foundations and context within which innovations and new ventures contribute to economic activity and an introduction to the tools and frameworks used to identify new venture opportunities and potential innovations;
- Insights and skills in innovation processes – the contexts and drivers of innovation, the types and outcomes of innovation – and frameworks and tools for analysing, enabling and managing innovation processes, mainly in established organisations, be it scientific/technological innovations or innovations in other contexts, including the public sector;
- Insights and skills in the tools and processes by which new business ventures are created by entrepreneurs, and the process of identifying new business opportunities, researching and developing an innovative business concept and business model, and analysing the resources and strategies necessary to implement it in the form of a new venture; and,
- An opportunity to further research and develop their knowledge and skills for entrepreneurship and innovation, in the context of a client-based project that has personal impact for them.
In addition to these, students will also develop:
- Cognitive skills to review, analyse, consolidate and explore knowledge, and insights into relevant applications;
- Technical skills to demonstrate an understanding of the fundamental applications with insight and creativity;
- Cognitive skills to exercise critical thinking, creative problem solving and evidence led judgement in recognising, and addressing problems; and,
- Communication skills to present concise and coherent exposition of knowledge, and to convey ideas in an appropriate language for business audiences.
Application of Knowledge and Skills
Graduates with a specialisation in Entrepreneurship and Innovation will demonstrate the application of knowledge and skills
- with initiative and judgement in planning, problem solving and decision making in professional practice and/or scholarship;
- to adapt knowledge and skills in diverse contexts; and,
- with responsibility and accountability for own learning and professional practice and in collaboration with others within broad parameters.

Please keep in mind that courses can not be double counted towards multiple specialisations. For students who wish to complete the Management Essentials Specialisation, you will need to select another course from the restricted elective list instead of MGMT8015.
