The Statistics specialisation is designed for students who wish to:
- Develop a greater understanding of statistical principles and their application;
- Improve analytical skills for interpreting and analysing statistical information;
- Gain greater insight into the Australian and international financial markets;
- Increase management skills for dealing with organisations, teams and policy issues; and,
- Expand their applied knowledge in various specialised areas of statistics.
Learning Outcomes
- Recognise the important role of statistical principles and their application;
- Demonstrate the necessary analytical skills for interpreting and analysing statistical information;
- Demonstrate well developed insight into the Australian and international financial markets;
- Justify and communicate the necessary management skills for dealing with organisations, teams and policy issues, to be able to work independently and collaboratively to collect, process, interpret and communicate the outcomes of statistical problems; and,
- Demonstrate the skills necessary to engage with and evaluate statistical problems critically.
Other Information
Students wishing to gain entry to a further program in Statistics or Actuarial Studies are advised to seek course selection advice from the program convenor. If you are unsure who the program convenor is, please contact info.cbe@anu.edu.au.
