This course introduces you to leadership and organisational change theories and frameworks, and provides opportunities to develop skills and practices for effectively achieving personal, interpersonal, and organisational goals. In leading people, you will explore ethical and values-based leadership, and develop skills to motivate others, negotiate, and make decisions. In leading change, you will develop skills for setting and communicating a compelling vision, gaining support, and leading yourself and others through transformational change processes.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, students will have the knowledge and skills to:
- distinguish between various leadership and change models and frameworks, their relevant foundations, and their strengths and weaknesses (Ask & Understand)

Workload
Students taking this course are expected to commit 130 hours to complete the work. For semester length offerings, this will typically include 3 hours per week in class and at least 7 hours a week on average (excluding non-teaching weeks) on course reading, research, writing and assessment work.
Where this course is offered in intensive delivery mode as a continuous block over a shorter period of time, the expected total time commitment for this course will be 130 hours.

Assumed Knowledge
This course is open to any student with an interest in Leadership or Change Management.
For students studying a 2-year/96-unit Masters program in RSM that requires completion of BUSI7280, MGMT7020, MGMT7250 and MKTG7260, you are suggested to study those courses first so that you have relevant foundational Management knowledge before attempting 8000-level advanced courses. This will also make it more feasible to transfer between programs if your study interests change.
