This minor equips students to meet the challenges associated with biodiversity conservation and management and conservation biology. Relevant courses address elements from theoretical to practical, and from qualitative to quantitative, and emphasise field-based learning and solving topical environmental problems with a focus on biodiversity.
Learning Outcomes
- Understand patterns of biodiversity and the scientific principles that underpin its conservation and management at a range of scales.
- Understand and apply strategies for the maintenance of biodiversity and the management and restoration of modified landscapes.
- Understand the social, economic, legal and political frameworks under which biodiversity conservation and management must operate.
- Synthesise data and other information related to biodiversity conservation and management and communicate this in appropriate ways, and
- Identify potential career pathways in biodiversity conservation and management.
