This course will provide an overview of the field of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and will introduce students to key interaction and experience design paradigms, approaches and methods. The course will equip students with theory, methods, and techniques to investigate different design situations, develop and prototype novel design ideas, and engage with the ethical dimensions of technology design.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, students will have the knowledge and skills to:
- Explain and illustrate key aspects of human-computer interaction.
- Apply multiple perspectives, theories, and ethical and inclusive considerations in critiquing technologies and prototyping and developing new design ideas.
- Investigate activities, practices, and contexts of technology use through contextual research methods.
- Critically evaluate novel technology design ideas based on Human-Computer Interaction approaches.

The ANU uses Turnitin to enhance student citation and referencing techniques, and to assess assignment submissions as a component of the University's approach to managing Academic Integrity. While the use of Turnitin is not mandatory, the ANU highly recommends Turnitin is used by both teaching staff and students. For additional information regarding Turnitin please visit the ANU Online website.
