Other Information
Students will need to complete BUSN1001 Business Reporting and Analysis in order to complete the 48 units of this major.
This major is incompatible with the Bachelor of Accounting.
Due to incompatibilities in courses, students in a combined program with law, who have taken LAWS1204 Contracts, LAWS2203 Corporations Law and LAWS4221 Income Tax towards the requirements of their law degree will need to select three courses other than BUSN1101 Introduction to Commercial Law, BUSN2101 Law of Business Entities and BUSN3014 Principles of Taxation Law from the third list of courses under the Accounting Major.
Students in a combined program with law who wish to choose BUSN3014 from that list are able to do so if they have not completed LAWS4221. Students will meet the prerequisites of BUSN3014 by completing LAWS1204 and LAWS1201.
Students wishing to meet the education requirements for entry into CPA Australia’s CPA Program and Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand’s Chartered Accountants Program (CA Program) must complete:
- BUSN1101 Introduction to Commercial Law (or LAWS1201 AND LAWS1204)
- BUSN2101 Law of Business Entities (or LAWS2203)
- BUSN3014 Principles of Taxation Law (or LAWS4221)
- BUSN3002 Auditing
BUSN3002 Auditing is required for meeting the education entry requirements for the CA Program, but is optional for entry into the CPA program. However, students are strongly advised to complete it in their degree. Students who do not complete this course at university must complete it in the CPA Program in order to advance to CPA status.
