This minor provides students with an introduction to information systems in business environments.
Application of knowledge and skills
Graduates with a minor in Business Information Systems will demonstrate the application of business information systems knowledge and skills:
- with initiative and judgment in planning, problem solving and decision making in professional practice and/or scholarship;
- to adapt knowledge and skills in diverse contexts; and,
- with responsibility and accountability for own learning and professional practice and in collaboration with others within broad parameters.
Learning Outcomes
- Review, analyse, consolidate and synthesise business information systems knowledge;
- Demonstrate an understanding of business information systems knowledge with depth in some areas;
- Exercise critical thinking and judgement in identifying and solving problems with intellectual independence;
- Present a clear, coherent and independent exposition of business information systems knowledge and ideas.
Other Information
Students are advised that INFS2005, INFS2024 & INFS3002 cannot be double counted towards the Business Information Systems Major (BUSN-MAJ) and the Business Information Systems Minor (BISM-MIN). Therefore, students must select other courses to count towards the BISM-MIN if they want both the BUSN-MAJ and the BISM-MIN to be listed on their transcripts.
Students seeking Australian Computer Society (ACS) accreditation for their studies must complete both the Business Information Systems Major (BUSN-MAJ) and Business Information Systems Minor (BISM-MIN), with a total of 12 unique courses studied. Students who have difficulties enrolling in 12 unique courses are asked to seek approval from the Research School of Management for alternative course choices (contact equiries.rsm@anu.edu.au for further information)
