Students enrolled in Museum and Heritage Studies may seek the approval of the program coordinator to undertake an independent research project. The aim of the project is to allow students to apply the conceptual and methodological skills they have developed in the program to a particular research question, issue, or case study gained from professional or first-hand experience. Projects will be designed in conjunction with and supervised closely by appropriate experts.

- Model best practice and have a commitment to ethical, reflective practice in regard to work and analysis in the relevant field of inquiry.

Indicative Assessment
Written assessment or project-based work, 5000-6000 words (100%) [Learning Outcomes 1-5]The nature of the inquiry will be established at the commencement of the teaching period through a written proposal that will be developed in consultation between the student and supervising lecturer.

Workload
130 hours of total student learning time made up from:a) 12 hours of contact over 12 weeks of supervisory meetings; and
b) 118 hours of independent student research, reading and writing.
